Denys Snihirov was born on May 7, 2000, in the small town of Molochansk, Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine. He began studying the button accordion at the age of six, quickly achieving success at local competitions. At 11, he won the Grand Prix at the All-Ukrainian Competition "Patterns of Prykarpattia" (Drohobych, 2011). At 13, he made his first appearance abroad at the International Competition Italia Award (Pineto, Italy, 2013), winning 1st Prize in the "Virtuoso Accordion" category and the Absolute 1st Prize in the "Classical Accordion" category.

During his school years, he also developed an interest in composition, writing simple pieces. In 2015, he entered the Music College in Zaporizhzhia, continuing to collect national and international prizes. He made several attempts to return to composition, though his early efforts remained unsatisfying.

In 2019, Denys entered the National Music Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv), studying under Kostiantyn Zhukov, winner of the Trophée Mondiale 1995. At the Academy, he acquired the knowledge that allowed him to reach the top level of performance and to discover the first keys to his own compositional style. His first attempt at one of the world’s most prestigious competitions, PIF Castelfidardo (Italy, 2021), earned him 2nd Prize in the main category.

In 2022, health issues forced him to interrupt his performing career: a spinal hernia led to surgery in September. Unable to progress as a performer, he focused on composition. Thanks to Viacheslav Moseichuk’s performance of his Caprice 3 at the Trophée Mondiale, Denys won the composition category.

After recovery in 2023, he claimed victories at two of the world’s four most prestigious accordion competitions:

· 60th Internationaler Akkordeonwettbewerb Klingenthal (Klingenthal, Germany) — 1st Prize;

· Trophée Mondiale de l'Accordeon (online, 2023) — 1st Prize.

In 2024, new health problems arose with the discovery of another spinal hernia. Nevertheless, he participated in a major accordion festival in Kragujevac (Serbia) and in the Trophée Mondiale (Montargis, France), where he won 2nd Prize.

Since the spring of 2025, due to health-related limitations, Denys has had limited ability to pursue a performing career and has therefor devoted himself primarily to composition.
